Executive Director: Becca Emmons, CTM, Doula, CFD

Hello There, I’m Becca! I’m a lifelong student of pregnancy, childbirth and early childhood. I began working as doula in 2007 while still in high school. After attending two years of traditional college, I heard my calling as a midwife and began pursuing midwifery education. After four years of intensive study, I began my apprenticeship under Heather Carmody (CPM, CTM, LM) in 2014. In 2015, we launched The Midwifery Institute, then called Madre Sana, to educate Midwives, Doulas and other birth workers. I finished my Apprenticeship in 2016 and began practicing both cooperatively with Heather and independently as a Traditional Midwife.

I took a step back from midwifery in 2018 following a case of burn out, and spent several years working with autistic children, and starting my own family. In 2022, I am returning to my first love, with the support of my husband and our children. I am so happy to be on this journey with you, and can’t wait to get started!

Tabitha Campos, Customer Support

Tabitha is our resident Customer Support Guru extraordinaire. If you’re emailing support, you’re probably talking to her. Tabitha has been working part-time with the Midwifery Institute since June 2022, and is loving every minute of it. In her spare time, Tabitha enjoys making art, spending time with her partner, snuggling her cats and exploring her area.

Sam Morton, Student Experience

Hey everyone and welcome! My name is Sam and I’ve been a helper for as long as I can remember. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up my response was always “I don’t know, I just want to change the world.” As a result of that passion with no clear path, I have a super varied background in psychology, social work, mental health, the justice system, sociology, and coaching. During my own walk through infertility, I got the call to be a doula. After the birth of my first child, I started my training and immediately knew I had found a home in birth work. All my past experiences and backgrounds made sense. I’m excited to work with the midwifery institute to help them execute their mission of putting tools and resources into the hands of the women who need them!

Sam works with The Midwifery Institute as an independent contractor, working to improve and streamline our student experience. You’ll see Sam in our live chats and discussions.
